Holiday Room Spray

Replace synthetic and harmful air fresheners with homemade, natural, safe, and effective room sprays.

Things like air fresheners are filled with fragrance to make them smell good and cover up odors.

The problem with “fragrance” is it can be a lot of chemicals mixed together to create a scent like “White Willow” or “Winter White.” Many people are negatively affected by fragrance due to the synthetic nature.

The non-flammable propellant found in air fresheners presents “Moderate Concern for respiratory effects” according to the Environmental Working Group (EWG)

The good news is that you can make your own room spray for a fraction of the cost, with no harmful ingredients, and in fact, contains ingredients beneficial to your wellbeing!

Here is an easy room spray recipe with five fun holiday scents.

ROOM SPRAY BASE

Put 2 ounces of witch hazel into the bottle first (approximately 1/3 of the bottle, it’s OK to estimate on this). Add approximately 30 drops of essential oil(s) of your choice to the witch hazel and gentle mix around. Fill the rest of the bottle with water. For the holidays I like to use Christmas Spirit essential oil blend but you can create your own blends too (see below).

Rooms sprays can be used for a variety of purposes. Of course spray into any room that needs a boost of goodness is great! Kids rooms, bathroom, living room – all great places to spray. You can also use them as a fabric freshener, in the car, on your linens etc. One of my favorite ways to use them is to spray my dryer balls with it before drying my laundry. My kids love to use them to spray their pillows before bed (using Peace & Calming or Kidscents Calm blend).
